Build Yourself+ Workshop

The Build Yourself+ Workshop is a weekly challenge-based workshop that trains women designers in the skills and inner confidence to succeed. Each unit of the six-week workshop starts with research and literature on women and gender in the workplace and translates those insights into actionable strategies for workshop participants.

The workshop launched in 2013 to address gender inequities in the field of design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design; it is now is hosted at the Boston Society of Architects. Its unique approach was featured in Fast Company and Landscape Architecture Magazine.

Creative Somerville Series

This speaker series was developed originally as a marketing tactic for a co-working space in Somerville. It brings together creatives and entrepreneurs in design, tech, food and more, hosted at a local brewery. This series, modeled after the concept of ‘fireside chats’ created a new venue of intimate networking and community building in Somerville. Billed as an ‘anti-power point’ speaker series, the talk format focuses on the personal journey of the speaker through an interview format, and an audience Q&A.

The branding and identity of the series is based on the neighborhood’s use of color and diversity.

Fellowship Kit

The Dorot Foundation wanted to create an introductory guide to their fellows that meshed with their existing identity but felt more contemporary and exciting. This identity design drew from their existing color palette but introduced edgier type treatment. Quotes in graphic text set intentions for the leadership curriculum and a graph paper aesthetic invites fellows to get active and creative in their own leadership development.

The gude was broken into multiple components as part of a kit, giving fellows a place to store the ‘leadership library’ they will assemble over the year, and creating a pocket-sized logistics guide fellows can take along to help as they set up apartments and lives abroad.

Made with Love

The design initiatives  office of Enterprise Community Partners, a national affordable housing nonprofit wanted a shareable deliverable on placemaking projects conducted by their fellows. The “recipe book” concept creates an audience-centered experience that put the focus on the replicability of the projects. A number of visualizations capture project impacts and spinoff effects in rigorous, yet playful ways. Real recipes from Oxtail Soup, to Weenie Okazu to Pueblo Bread, give a taste of the projects’ host communities and make the book playful and engaging to audiences.
